Tricia’s been wanting an ear piercing for some time now. I guess it’s been a bit over a year. I told her to wait and to ask me later. Well, later came pretty darn soon! Ha! I told her to wait till her next birthday…and if she made straight ‘A’s’…I would consider flooring the subject with her father.
Well, her 14th birthday was May 9th…it’s been over a year…she is a straight ‘A’ student…and she’s a pretty awesome daughter! So, I guess there’s no delaying it any longer.
Oh wait…let me explain the piercing. She wanted a cartilage ear piercing, not just a regular ear lobe piercing. Two separate procedures. With a cartilage piercing (ear piercing high on the ear that goes through cartilage), you must be at least 13 years of age, show proof of age and have parental approval/signature. Of course, we didn’t know that when we went to the first boutique in Southlake. Tricia was extremely disappointed that day…no cartilage piercing for her! Whew…I was glad. I thought she’d forget the notion. Yeah, right!? She pressed us to go the next day…Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day morning…mind you…before we celebrate my day…we had to celebrate the rest of her birthday wish present…whatever! So, we headed out to the mall, to the same boutique called Claire’s but in Arlington, TX. And for $30 buckaroos…we purchased a pair of 3mm gold studs…one for her ear now and one saved for later. Tricia was a tad bit nervous but very anxious and excited!

Now, I have Gabbi-lulu asking for an extra ear-piercing when she turns 14 yrs old. Uggh! We’ll see lil’ Fry Chicken! I’m just not ready for you to grow up! Hahha!
Now, let’s see if Tricia will keep the ear piercing infection free! So far, so good! Tricia has excellent personal hygiene!

Tricia is so happy and was eager to show the world! For her, it was a sign of maturity and style. For me…I wept internally as I can see my lil’ girl is growing up!

Ouch, did that hurt? I always wanted one but never did, I do have 4 holes though, got my second set at 18. LOL. Good luck Tricia... it looks cute. And what a cool mom you are for giving her the freedom to express herself in that way.
