Yes, school is out for the summer, but I wanted to share with you some of the happenings towards the end of school.
The girls and their neighborhood classmates made these t-shirts for ‘Twins-Day’. Except, they all wanted to pair up together. So the “quintuplets” created these fun t-shirts! Keaton, 2nd from the right, is the only non-Asian wannabe! Ha! Gabbi couldn’t stand to be only 25%…so I bumped her numbers!
Tricia and the Timberview Middle School Choir had her Spring Pop Show.
8th grade choir friends: Destiny, Tricia, Nikki, Kennedie & Landree.
And even though it’s the last two weeks of school, the girls still had to school projects to complete. Below, Gabbi & Catherine work on their Sun & Earth science project.

Tricia had a Science project due at the same time. She had to make a volcano to utilize as a backdrop to her Mentos in Diet Coke experiment. We created this paper maiche volcano first…painted it…than created terrain and a lake around the base made from recyclable materials.

Tricia conducts her experiment out doors using Diet Coke and Caffeine Free Diet Coke. Gabbi couldn’t wait to assist Tricia!
The end result…there is no different between either product. The soda pop explodes at the same rate expulsing the same amount of product. We also conducted a second test utilizing Sprite, Sprite Zero, Coke and Diet Coke. Diet Coke got the most expulsion!
We attended the Band invitational since Gabbi has signed up for Band next year in the 6th grade. Gabbi tested out the flute…
Gabbi opted for the Flute! I was so excited she picked a lovely sounding instrument…one that is light carrying and easy on the ears during practice! Tee-hee-hee!
Two weeks later…Gabbi decided she didn’t want to be in Band next year. I was crushed! Gabbi said she didn’t want Band practice and concerts to cut into her after-school social calendar. I guess I can appreciate the truth from her. Still, I wanted at least one of my girls to be in Band…if not for them…at least for me! I mean…I couldn’t wait to be a Band Booster and get all involved and such. Now that I think of it again…I’m sadden… Oh well…maybe Gabbi will change her mind in the years to come!
Tricia and I attended the Mother-Daughter brunch for her SkyDancers drill team. She was tasked to bring finger sandwiches for the luncheon.

Tricia’s SkyDancer ‘Big-Sister’ next year is Kyra! Tricia couldn’t be happier!
The EOY Awards ceremonies were upon us. Gabbi received an award for ‘Perfect Attendance’ and ‘A/B Honor Roll’.
John and I attended Tricia’s 8th grade Awards Assembly although in vain. I’m not going to continue beating this topic with a wet noodle, but there are other’s out there that don’t have Facebook and don’t know about this issue.
After Timberview Middle School 'snubbed' Tricia's academic acknowledgement at the 8th grade awards assembly...Tricia came home on the last day of school with an award voted by all her 8th grade classmates! Tricia was voted ~Most Talented~! Yeaaah! Vindication at last! MUuaaahahaha!
Moving forward…
Gabbi and Stephanie couldn’t wait to make personalized t-shirts too! They selected black t-shirts, fringed the bottoms and added beads to their design.
Finished product! Abby, Catherine, Gabbi & Stephanie are definitely “Hot Stuff” in their shirts!
On the back of each shirt, the girls personalized with their nicknames and favorite numbers!

Tricia’s SkyDancers group is called ‘Ariels’.

Tricia is second on the right.
Gabbi and classmates, Emily, Stephanie & Catherine, had to complete a golf course for their Math & Science classes. Constructed out of recyclable items (for the Science grade) and a contoured course for the maze (for the Math grade portion). They made their own golf club too! It was a pickle putting this in the back of my van for transport up to the school…but we did it!

Tricia did not receive an award this year during the EOY assembly. After the ceremony, John spoke with the principal who informed him of the districts policy. Keller ISD policy states that students will be acknowledged academically based on their cumulative grades for the 7th & 8th grade. So, since we weren’t living in the states for Tricia’s 7th grade, but rather in Costa Rica…Tricia did not receive an award for her academic accomplishments. Tricia was on the A/B Honor Roll throughout the school year. She was in Choir and Show Choir. She missed only 3 days of school due to a Winter cold. She is an exceptional student.
I think this policy is ludicrous! I think students should be judged solely on each of their academic years. A student could be having a bad school year…divorce, marriage, death, birth, emotional or physiological issues…in the 7th grade. Then the following year in 8th grade, they could score better grades. Should that student not be recognized for his improved grades!?
Oh, and to add insult to injury…awards were being issued out to students for “Most improved in Tennis” or “Most improved in Symphonic Band”. What? Are they kidding me? Are they telling me it’s more important to acknowledge a student for being most improved in tennis but not one that was A/B Honor Roll the entire school year? I’ll tell you what…I was furious! It took me an entire day to calm myself down! However, I was proud of Tricia for being so level-headed and calm about this injustice. I’m very proud of her…
After Tricia's snub at her Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, her math teacher created this magnetic award for her! It's on our fridge! Thanks Mr. Bizaillion! Even the teachers don’t like the school district’s policy!

Okay, I’m over it!
Moving forward…
The girls wanted to make personalized EOY (End Of the Year) t-shirts to wear to school. A quick trip to Hobby Lobby for all our essential needs…colored t-shirts and puff paint. Tricia, Nikki, Kennedie & Taylor have fun making their t-shirts!
Gabbi and Stephanie couldn’t wait to make personalized t-shirts too! They selected black t-shirts, fringed the bottoms and added beads to their design.

Schools out…now it’s time to catch up on sleep…
Goodbye school year…and hello summer time!
